Melaine C. Habla’s Beat Da Boys made a blistering charge in the last 250 meters to win the 2022 Philracom 3YO Maiden Stakes recently at the Saddle and Clubs Leisure Park in Naic, Cavite.
Nicely settled in third at the start, the Modern Love out of Nicconicat progeny with multi-titled rider Kelvin Abobo aboard just watched the early duel between the top two picks of the race, Bell Racing’s Pharaoh Bell (American Pharaoh-Maleena) and James Rabano’s Amor Mi Amor (Telesto-Bastonera) which set tremendous first three quarters at 7-22′-22′.
In the last 400-meters, Pharaoh Bell took command of the lead with Cupid Song making his run and Amor Mi Amor relagated to third while the eventual winner dropped back to fourth.
However, the final stretch showed a different scenario as Beat Da Boys was now head-to-head with Pharaoh Bell. It was not until the last 100-meters where the Arturo Sordan Jr.-trained bay filly strutted his mettle and wowed the crowd by moving away from the closest opposition by two-lengths at the finish line. Final quarter was at 26′ to submit a total time of 1:18.4 for the 1300-meter distance.
The winning connections get to pocket the P720-thousand top prize while Pharaoh Bell’s entourage had to contend themselves with the P240-thousand runner-up prize.
Completing the top six finishers were Cupid Song, Amor Mi Amor, Portsalt and Opportunity.
