Jungkook Reigns Supreme

Jungkook Crowned 2025 PHILRACOM-PCSO Silver Cup Champion in Thrilling Finish

MANILA – The Metro Manila Turf Club Inc. (MMTCI) bore witness to an electrifying spectacle this past Sunday, 27 July 27 2025, as the highly anticipated 2025 PHILRACOM-PCSO Silver Cup culminated in a sensational victory for the top favorite, Jungkook. With a staggering guaranteed gross prize of PHP 4,000,000.00 over a challenging 1800-meter distance, the race delivered on its promise of high-stakes drama and equestrian excellence.

Owned by Tisha T. Sevilla and bred by the renowned Esguerra Farms & Stud Inc., Jungkook, under the masterful guidance of the Jockey Mark Angelo “Black Superman” Alvarez, demonstrated why he was the overwhelming favorite.

The duo showcased impeccable synergy, navigating the demanding course with precision and power, clocking impressive quarter times of 14′, 23, 23, 23, 27 for a final time of 1:50.8.

This triumph adds another glittering jewel to Jockey Mark Angelo Alvarez’s crown, following his recent back-to-back victories in the prestigious Prince and King’s Cup held last 20 July 2025. His consistent performance solidifies his status as one of the sport’s most dominant figures.

The race was a true test of stamina and strategy. Early on, Basheirrou, with Jockey Jonathan B. Hernandez in the irons, burst out of the gates, setting a blistering pace and leading the pack. However, as the race unfolded, the relentless pursuit of the favorites began to tell.

Coming in a strong second was Batang Manda, another crowd favorite and the celebrated winner of the 2025 Gran Copa de Manila. Owned and bred by Benjamin C. Abalos Jr., Batang Manda, piloted by Jockey Patricio R. Dilema, displayed incredible grit, proving his championship pedigree once again. Basheirrou, despite his early heroics, ultimately secured a commendable third place.

The competitive field saw Ghost, ridden by Jockey John Alvin Guce, claiming fourth position, while Istulen Ola, with Jockey Pablito M. Cabalejo, finished a respectable fifth. Sonic Clay, guided by Jockey Christian Reyes, rounded out the top six.

Last year’s defending champion, Easy Does It, under Jockey John Allyson T. Pabilic, finished seventh, a testament to the ever-increasing level of competition in Philippine horseracing. Bringing up the rear, but completing the challenging 1800-meter journey, was Moderne Legacy with Jockey Jomer M. Estorque.

The 2025 PHILRACOM-PCSO Silver Cup was a resounding success, showcasing the finest thoroughbreds and jockeys in the country. The thrilling finish and the emergence of new champions, alongside the consistent performance of established stars, promise an even more exciting future for Philippine horseracing.
