2025 PHILRACOM SPORTS EDITORIAL CONTEST

 

MANILA – The Philippine Racing Commission (PHILRACOM) is pleased to announce the official mechanics for the 2025 PHILRACOM Sports Editorial Contest. Designed to celebrate the art of sports journalism – a platform for writers, sports enthusiasts, and aspiring journalists to showcase their talents in celebrating the vibrant world of horse racing.

 

ELIGIBILITY/QUALIFICATION OF CONTEST PARTICIPANTS

 

The Sports Editor must have published articles (advancer and/or race results) in the print or online version of a broadsheet or tabloid newspaper or general circulation, with mandatory coverage of the Presidential Gold Cup and Silver Cup Stakes Races, and any three (3) of the following Stakes Races:

 

Grand Derby Triple Crown – 3rd Leg
Amb. Eduardo M. Cojuangco, Jr. Cup Juvenile Stakes Races 1st – 3rd Leg
Triple Crown – 1st Leg Sampaguita
Triple Crown – 2nd Leg Lakambini

 

SELECTION OF WINNING PARTICIPANTS

 

The PHILRACOM Board shall act as the panel of judges, and determine the top ten (10) Sports Editors based on the number of editorials published in the print or online version of a broadsheet or tabloid newspaper of general circulation.

 

In case of a tie, the Board shall determine which participant it prefers to rank higher.

2nd 50,000 + Plaque of Recognition
3rd 40,000 + Plaque of Recognition
4th 30,000 + Plaque of Recognition
5th 20,000 + Plaque of Recognition
6th 15,000 + Plaque of Recognition
7th & 8th 10,000 each + Plaque of Recognition
9th & 10th 5,000 each + Plaque of Recognition

 

PERIOD OF CONTEST

 

  1. All articles must be published in the print or online version of a broadsheet or tabloid newspaper of general circulation from May to December 2025
  2. All entries must be submitted on or before 15 January 2026
  3. The names of the winner shall be announced on the PHILRACOM website and social media pages.

 

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS

 

Government employees and their relatives up to the third degree of consanguinity or affinity are not eligible to join.

 

Plagiarism, copy-pasting, or submitting PHILRACOM press releases as original or published work will be grounds for disqualification.

 

Article/s published by and/or through government-funded, owned, or controlled organization/s shall not be included or considered as qualified entries.
