District One Pulls Off Stunning Upset in 3rd Leg of 2025 Triple Crown

MANILA – The 2025 Triple Crown Stakes series culminated in a dramatic upset last Sunday, at the Metro Manila Turf Club, with District One, owned and bred by SC Stockfarm Inc., surging past the competition to claim victory in the 3rd Leg. Under a masterful ride by the renowned John Alvin “El Supremo” Guce, District One denied Vinalot Eyu the coveted Triple Crown sweep, captivating an electrified crowd and securing a prize of PHP 2,100,000.00 from the total guaranteed purse of PHP 3,500,000.00.

The tension was palpable as the horses rounded the final turn, with every stride met by the thunderous roar of the crowd. While Vinalot Eyu, owned and bred by Melaine C. Habla and expertly guided by Mark Angelo T. Alvarez, had already clinched the 1st and 2nd legs, District One’s late surge provided a thrilling twist to the prestigious series.

Transform, owned and bred by Herminio S. Esguarra with Jeffril T. Zarate aboard, finished a strong second, followed by Cole is Right in third, ridden by Jeffrey B. Bacaycay owned by Nicomendes G. Cruz, and bred by Joseph Dyhenco. Vinalot Eyu ultimately placed fourth. Midnight Bell, owned by Bell Racing Stable, bred by Elmer Thomas C. De Leon, and ridden by Jonathan Hernandez, in fifth, and Constatic Offer, bred and owned by Antonio V. Tan Jr., guided by Patricio Dilema, in sixth.

The excitement continued with two other feature races showcasing promising talent. In the 3rd Leg of the 3YO Locally Bred Stakes Race, El Jaleo, expertly ridden by Jockey Patricio Dilema, stormed to victory, highlighting the strength and potential of the Philippines’ homegrown equine athletes. The 3rd Leg Hopeful Stakes Race saw Habebi Scout, with Mart M. Gonzales in the irons, triumph in a thrilling finish, signaling the arrival of the next generation of racing stars.
