In The Zone owned by basketball superstar Paolo Mendoza ran a seemingly perfect race in taking the 2022 Philracom Open Invitational Race for Imports and Locals last Sunday at the Metro Manila Turf Club in Malvar, Batangas.
The start of the race saw a fierce head-to-head battle between In The Zone (Eurozone out of Woongara) and A.P Factor, a duel which lasted for the better part of the 1800 meter journey.
But apprentice jockey Mark Lanot showed the poise of a seasoned veteran in just focusing on the task at hand and not minding the pressure being thrown at him and his mount by multi-titled Jesse “Midas Touch” Guce on board A.P. Factor.
At the final turn for home it was evident that there was no denying In The Zone and Lanot the victory and the P300-thousand top prize as they were cruising home easily five lengths off the nearest rival clocking 1:51.4 for the distance with clips of 14-23′-24-23′-26′.
Second place went to fourth choice Sudden Impact, third to Joyous Solution, fourth to Dragon Butterfly, fifth to Tony’s Love and sixth to Isla Puting Bato which will be receiving P100 thousand, P50,000, P25,000, P15,000 and P10,000 for their efforts, respectively.
Beneficiary for the event was the Anakalusugan Partylist.
