Thoroughbred horseracing is a vibrant and exciting sport that gives its fans a unique kind of entertainment. It is a blend of speed, skill, and strategy employed by the tandem of horse and rider.

But horseracing is not only a sport. It is also a means of livelihood for thousands of Filipinos, who are involved directly in race conduct and Thoroughbred breeding, and indirectly through the auxiliary industries that support the horseracing world.

Racing provides over 5,000 jobs. It boosts infrastructure development through the construction of racetracks, racing clubs, breeding ranches, veterinary clinics, and other related facilities. It promotes agricultural development through breeding and importation of quality bloodstock. It contributes to the national economy by remitting over one billion pesos in direct taxes, and even more in indirect taxes.

The Philippine Racing Commission, under the guidance of President Benigno S. Aquino III, is committed to its mandate of supervising and regulating horseracing, with the aim of furthering the growth of the industry and the promotion of the sport in the services of the nation.
